National telecommunications Operator, Globacom, was announced as the Nigerian Brand of the year. Glo won the award at the Nigerian Television Authority Integrity & Service Program (NTA ISP) Award which was help at Aso Villa, in Abuja on the night of Tuesday. The event organizers said, at the event where so some high profile peoples were present. That 'Globacom was chosen as a brand of the year for its pioneering role in the telecom industry,' describing it as the "African Brand with Global Aspirations." They said Globacom is a modern telecoms network offering unique and advanced product and service with convenient and competitive data and voice pricing plans.
They also recalled that Globacom has deepened internet penetration in Nigeria through its nationwide fiber optic cable, Glo 1 submarine cable & 4G LTE services which has been expanded and extended to 33 locations across the country. The representative of the Senate president at the event, Sen. Abdulahi Adamu, presented the Globacom award to Mr. Masur Opekunle, a senior officer in the public sector of the company.
Other Globacom officials present at the event include; Mrs. Ustina Abdullateef of Public Sector and Mr. Sola Ogaji of the Department of Marketing Communications. Globacom started that the secret of its growth was resilience, commitment to its vision to be the best, and its huge investments in telecoms infrastructure.
Globacom was the only private sector player that was decorated at the event. The event was attended by the Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu, the Secretary to the Government Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, the governors of Imo, Bauchi, Adamawa Nassarawa and Kano state.
