Climate Change refers to any significant change in the measures of climate lasting for an extended period of time. In order words, Climate Change includes major changes in temperature, precipitation, or wind patterns among other effects, that occur over several decades or longer.

In definition , Climate Change refers to "The continual rise of the earth's atmosphere due to Greenhouse gasses.
To fully grasp the concept of Climate Change think about anything that is malfunctioning, we can relate it with a car that has a flat tyre to a phone with a damaged screen, these were caused by an action and will not function until its fixed. This is what is happening to the earth.
Over the past 200 years, humans have started to have a measurable effect on the carbon cycle. Part of this is due to deforestation (cutting down of trees) this action removes carbon from biomass (found in trees and forest) and this carbon goes into the atmosphere.
However, an even bigger change to the carbon cycle has occured as a result of the widespread use of fossil fuels. Burning fossil fuels realease Carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This adds carbon that has been out of circulation for millions of years back directly into the atmosphere.
The immediate result is that in the past 200 years the concentration of carbon in the atmosphere has dramatically increased.
What is Fossil Fuels?
Fossil fuels are sources of energy that have developed within the earth over millions of years. Because fossil fuels - oil, natural gas, and coal - take so long to form, they are considered nonrenewable.
What comes to your mind when you think of fossil fuel? You might think of fuel for your car, possibly firewood, which could be used to cook or to provide heat for your home. The bottom line is that fuel is an absolutely necessary part of everyone's daily life. And deep within our Earth, there are stores of fuel that our world has become totally dependent on.
But did you know that these fuels were once plant and animal life? That's right; fossil fuels are actually the accumulated remains of living organisms that were buried millions of years ago. In fact, it may help you to recall this term by remembering that a 'fossil' is a naturally preserved remnant of a living thing from long ago.
fossil fuels began millions of years ago. At that time, there were tiny plants and animals living in the oceans of the world. As these plants and animals died, they would sink down and settle on the ocean floor. This organic matter was eventually covered by layers of sand, rock and mud that later turned into sedimentary rock.
As these layers of rock grew thicker and thicker, the organic matter ended up being placed under a great amount of pressure. Over the millions of years that passed, this high pressure transformed the partially decomposed plant and animal matter into the major energy source that we know as oil and natural gas.
Fossil fuels are a great source of energy because they originate from living things. they were compressed and condensed into the ground millions of years ago which makes them retain great amount of energy.
However, burnig fossil fuel is dangerous because it lets into the atmosphere dangerous carbon matter that has been buried millions of years ago and have been out of circulation for those number of years. It has no business being in the atmosphere. It is the burning of these fuel by usage in cars, generators, for electricity, for minning and industry purposes that is drastically changing the earths climate.
Some of the Effects are;
Global warming which is largely attributed to our reliance on fossil fuels. Global warming is the increase of Earth’s average surface temperature due to the effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth.”- The mining of fossil fuels is harmful to the environment, destroying habitats and scaring the landscape of our planet. Other effects are;
1. Environmental Hazards: Environmental pollition is one of the major disadvantage of fossil fuels. It is a known fact that carbon dioxide, gas released when fossil fuels are burnt, is one of the primary gas responsible for global warming. Rise in temperature of earth has resulted in melting of polar ice caps, flooding of low lying areas and rise in sea levels. If such conditions continue, our plant Earth might face some serious consequences in the near future.
2. Rising Prices: we've noticed the recent rise in the price of fossil fuels. Middle-east countries have huge Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is a group of 13 countries including Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE. They are responsible for 40 percent of the world’s oil production. OPEC constantly monitors the volume of oil consumed and then adjusts its own production to maintain its desired barrel price. This results in worldwide fluctuations.
3. Acid Rain: Sulphur dioxide is one of the pollutant that is released when fossil fuels are burnt and is a main cause of acid rain. Acid rain can lead to destruction of monuments made up of brickwork or marbles. Even crops can affected due to acidification of loams. Coal mining results in destruction of ecosystems and also endangers the lives of mineworkers.
4. Effect on Human Health: Pollution from vehicles and coal powered power plants can cause serious environmental hazards. Pollution related diseases range from mild to severe and can significantly affect one’s quality of life. Air pollution can result in asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder or COPD and lung cancer. Long-term exposure may increase respiratory infections in general population. Children and the elderly are most vulnerable to these diseases.
